Dividend Season

This only comes twice a year. I love getting either the cheques or the statements in the mail it’s like getting Christmas cards. Got the first statement yesterday for over $300 dollar, it was re-invested and got 54 more shares for it. I expect to get more of these statements in the next month or so.

Nothing else is happening here financially. I am just waiting for tomorrow, it will be PAYDAY! I’m looking forward to putting some money into the mortgage.

    That must be an Austrailian timing thing, here in America dividends are usually paid out quarterly or annually (though I have one that is monthly). Also dividends can come anytime during the quarter. Most of mine are received during the first and third months of the quarters, unfortunately we are in the middle of the second month of the quarter, so I am in the dry period.

    Dividend season comes for me quarterly. Love, love, love it. I reinvest, but on my spreadsheet I've totalled what I would get/quarter should I decided to not re-invest. Just a little shy of $300/quarter. I'm only 50, though, so if I buy and hold (and hold companies worth holding) that total should increase. And because of re-investment, I'd prefer a black Monday or two before that so the re-invested dividend buys more.

    Everything is online so when retirement comes, getting the dividend check is a checkbox away.

    I was meant to mentioned that here in Aust we tend to get it twice a year (normally in the 1st and 3rd quater). I knew that in the US you tend to get it quarterly.

    Great idea to add it together baselle I might give that a go.
