    May I ask, how many people does your health insurance premium cover? That is a lot less than we were paying for coverage in New England, that's for sure. Even with Personal/Medical folded in, it leads to a lesser amount.

    Hi Jerry,

    Our health insurance cover both DH and I, but it is actually for a family cover (it didn't make that much difference to getting a couple cover)so if we ever have a child/ren they will be covered with it too. I think our excess is $1000 for hospital cover, I think we increased it from $500.

    Here in Australia when you earn a certain amount of money the gov't will tax you extra, a medicare levy (I think an extra 1.5%) if you don't have a private health insurance. We still get a medicare card so most of our GP visits are free (bulked bill).
