$20 extra

February 14th, 2008 at 03:58 am

Yesterday we got our home phone bill, they charge us an extra $20 for what we think is for a late fee. DH will ring them and try to dispute it. We don't know what really happened maybe it's our fault, if it is then we will pay it.

Also, our intenet bill is really confusing, and we think they have over charged us by about $15. By the way both our home phone and internet is own by the same company. Recently the look of their statement has change and it's really confusing how they calculate it now.

Hopefully, we won't have to pay the extra $20.

what phone company is it? we are with aapt, and my bf's dad is with australia star. i have been told to 'keep an eye' on aapt as they overcharge, or double charge, or charge for phone numbers people never call. so far we haven't had a problem with them, and australia star have been very good as well.
i would like to end this by saying i hate telstra! but, who doesn't?

*btw, just wanted to mention in case you got confused, my bf's dad runs a business and my bf has a mobile phone with the business phone account, that is why i mentioned them!!!

    We are with Optus.
I should look at AAPT. I've never heard of Australia Star. Is that national wide?

we found out about australia star communications(they recently bought austar out, i have been told) through a guy that worked at an optus dealership (he was working for another phone company on the side for commission! sneaky!!!). i think it may be just a business phone company, but they have a website so you may want to have a look. anyway before them, we had 3 mobiles, two land lines, internet and a fax on a few different companies, and sometimes spent up to $1000 a month (this is for a business, keep in mind). Now our phone bills rarely exceed $600. So it is quite a saving in that respect. We've never had a problem with charges, and we ahve paid late on some occasions (once a month late - i forgot to pay the bill!) and have never had any hassles, not even a phone call or a late fee!
the problem with aapt is that they have a new system now and the call waiting times are RIDICULOUS. I have called them several times and have not waited less than 30 minutes. (in comparison, australia star takes around 2-5 minutes, or in some cases a max of 10).
    anyway, those are my experiences.

Thank you so much for the info, I will check it out.
this is really the first time we have this problem with optus and we've been with them for 7 years now. But I think we can get a better some where else now. So it might be good for us to look around to see what's out there.
    Thanks again.
