Update

January 30th, 2009 at 02:18 am

Yesterday was almost a NSD but DH had to fill up the car. All up this month we've only spent less than $89 on fuel, that hasn't happened for awhile.

Can you believe that yesterday it got to 44.3 deg celcius at 4:43pm? ha! We got so hot that we finally put on the air conditioner at home for the first time this summer. We are trying so hard to conserve electricity but we just couldn't take it anymore yesterday. But we are the lucky ones actually, unfortunately there were households that didn't have power. There were people on the news that had to throw away everything in the fridge. What a waste of money. Some of the electric company just don't have enough juice to cope with the extra usage. That's why we are trying to conserve our electricity. I woke up this morning and felt like I haven't slept for a week. I can't wait for the change to come.

BTW the vegie garden is pretty much dead, I feel like crying about it. We can't water it much because there's water restriction in our area Frown.

We will probably get takeaway food again tonight. Something light, it shouldn't cost too much. Just don't have the appetite at the moment.

It's really funny that I'm omplaining about the heat and most of you are saying that it's too cold.

lol - i hear you on the heat!!! last saturday night it was 37 degrees at about 11.30pm! this was in brisbane at a friends house. ew!
we don't have airconditioning or ceiling fans in our house, and a suspicion that there is no insulation either, which makes our house really bloody hot. thank god we are moving into our OWN house soon, and the owners of this house will move in and realise how horirble it is!

i didnt hear about the power outage - thats interesting. nothing like that has happened where i live, on the sunshine coast. hope it gets cooler for you soon. here its 'only' about 38 degrees.

Sounds like heaven to me! Thanks for sharing...makes me feel warm just thinking about it. I stare at a backyard full of snow, but it will be melting a bit this weekend.

We had to deal with water restrictions last year. My cousin bought a rain barrel, so if it happens again this summer, we'll have a barrel of water to use on the tomatoes.

Something we do to try and help with water restrictions is save the bath water. I watched a news report of a woman doing that in Australia, which gave me the idea. She had all three of her little girls take their bath together, and then used the bath water to water her garden outdoors.

I only have one little one, who really likes to take showers (go figure) so I stopper the bathtub, let her get her kicks by taking a shower, and then use the water outdoors to try and help out with the drought we're having.
