short update

July 26th, 2017 at 03:42 am

Electric Blanket – We bought an electric blanket. I was on sale at ALDI from $65 down to $45. DH and I never had an electric blanket before but I used to have one when I was younger. We have been using it for few days now and it has been great. We put it on for about half an hour just before going to bed, we turn it off going to sleep.

Grocery – We did very well with our lastest couple of grocery shopping trips, on the weekend for example we achieved to spend under $20. We got $40 left for the last weekend of July to spend. I think that might be enough to buy what we need for the week. The main thing we will need is coffee, milk and eggs. There are still a bit of meat and chicken in the freezer. I actually want to get through those stuff that has been hiding at the bottom/back, some of stuff in their might have been there for months. I just want to used and clear those before restocking again.

Pizza – We have been loving getting Domino’s Pizza lately on Friday nights. We been having them with a bottle of wine while watching Friday night footy or if the game is not that exciting we watch a movie on Netflix. They are only $5 each. We tend to get a couple which each enough for dinner and some leftover for the next day.

Nothing much else is happening here.

Ha, ha -- this a reminder that you are on the other side of the world, as the very idea of an electric blanket right now is horrible! Smile Good deal on the blanket. I am curious about the quality of such merchandise at Aldi. I generally don't look at the housewares there; I am focused on the food.

We've got few items at Aldi over the years, majority of the time they have been great both in value and quality. There have been on a couple of occasion where we returned the items, they got great policy that you can return stuff no reason required for the first 30 days. I returned something once because I changed my mind and another time the item did not fit. The items at least got 1 yr warranty. If you don't care about brand names then Aldi products are great.

The electric blanket has been great I love the 2 separate controls and the body and leg zones. Also got a timer and they suppose to shut off if it over heat. Electric blankets these are definitely a lot safer that what they used to be, but in saying that it is still a good idea to be cautious. DH saw another one at Target for the same price but it didn't have as much features.

Did the blanket come with directions? As I recall, it's supposed to be the top layer, ie, don't put it under other blankets or sheets.

I didn't know that and many years ago when i was in my 20s and borrowed my mother's ancient electric blanket, I put it underneath other blankets, the blanket malfunctioned/shorted out and it started a fire. The fire dept was called and when all was said and done i had a very large hole burnt thru all the layers and the mattress too.

Don't mean to scare you but do be careful.
