I was about to make roast chicken last night when I couldn't get the oven to work. DH tried it but it was no use. The chicken was all seasoned and everything already. I had to put it back in the fridge. The chicken is now in the slow cooker, and I just hope that it turns out alright.
We've had problems with this oven for over a year now, first the door wouldn't shut tight anymore, then the igniter stopped working. For a year now we had to put it on manually. Now it won't light up anymore. I think getting it fix will cost a bit, although we haven't looked into it. I'm not that keen on getting a new one yet either because the stove part still works just fine. I think we could get away not using the oven for a while. I want to spend sometime looking into my options rather than buying one right away.
Life is funny sometimes. Last month we had a really good run in terms of good news, I guess now its for some negativity. Just the way life is.
Well unto some good news, I paid $1000 into the mortgage today.
Oven is not working :(

An inexpensive, short term quick fix might be a refurbished toaster oven. They are big enough to bake a chicken or mid sized casserole, don't heat-up the house, take only a modest amount of counter space and are inexpensive.

But otherwise, I have to say that while my big oven is working, I haven't used it in over a year! What i do use daily is 1. my microwave and 2. a Cuisineart toaster/convection oven. As someone else here said, it's big enough for me to cook up a frozen pizza (not the huge kind), cook chicken and fresh salmon and even bake a loaf of quick bread.
I hate the idea of heating up the big oven (mine's electric) and wasting all that energy when I'm cooking for one.

But I guess our first option at the moment is to find out how much it will cost to get it fix and is it worth fixing. I am anticipating that it will cost a bit.
Tomorrow is Sat so we will probably go to the shops and have a look how much oven cost these days. I've never bought one in my life so I have no idea. Luckily, it is our end of financial year here and there are a lot of sales going on. Not a bad time to shop around.

It's ok to ask for more like a slightly bigger discount, or price match or free delivery or free installation etc.
I think Service Contracts are a rip-off and big profit item for seller. If it can't stand on manufacturing warranty...is it any good? I know salesmen get a good commission for selling those contracts.
